Future AI: Friend or Foe?

Nick Bostrom is a Computer Scientist who is works on Artificial Intelligence. His talk is an eye opening dialogue about the future of computer intelligence as they reaches and surpass’ the levels of human intelligence.  His presentation first addresses the fact that as of now we haven’t reached the point of achieving true AI. Bringing to light that even though he haven’t currently reached it we are not far of considering exponential growth. He then mentions what the possibilities that exist once AI has comes to fruition, such as the possible domination of humans by the hyper intelligent machines. In conclusion he talks about a way to prevent a terminator type AI machine that wouldn’t threaten human life or future.

His talk is very well paced keeping the audience on the edge of their seat with his great content and delivery. He moves very little from his podium and has no props to help engage the audience in the talk, though with the quality of the content none is needed. He mildly gestures his hands when talking about the topic to give visual cues of points he mentions. The talk was extremely geared towards the evolution and containment of AI, and therefore presented no humor. Ultimately, I was engaged in the talk and left wondering how AI will turn out later in my life.
